X‑Guard Man‑Down System
Safe working with automatic man‑down detection
At X‑Guard, we are committed to one clear mission: Securing Everybody Anywhere. This means every worker, at any location, should be able to rely on protection, even when working alone or in potentially hazardous environments.
The Man‑Down System is specifically developed to ensure immediate emergency response in the event of an incident. This page explains what the system does, how it works, and how to configure it for optimal use.
What is the Man‑Down System?
The Man‑Down System uses the Risk Mode in the X‑Guard Alarm App. When working at times or places where lone working is not allowed or involves increased risk — such as night shifts, remote locations, or unsupervised areas — the app monitors motion using the phone’s sensors. If no movement is detected within a set time, a pre-alarm is triggered. If there is no response, an alarm call is automatically sent. The system also activates if the device crashes or loses connection.
When is the system used?
-
Working alone or at remote locations
-
Outside of regular working hours
-
Sites without direct supervision or assistance
-
Situations requiring fast emergency response
The Man‑Down System only activates where and when needed, preventing unnecessary alerts.
How does Risk Mode work?
-
Set "Personal Security" in the app to Risk
-
The app activates the phone’s motion sensor
-
If no sufficient motion is detected during the set period (default: 2 minutes), a 30‑second pre‑alarm starts with on‑screen message, vibration, and sound
-
Move the device to cancel the pre‑alarm. If not cancelled, an automatic alarm call is made
-
The delay time is adjustable in the settings
Pause mode and auto‑pausing
-
When the phone is laid down (e.g. during a break), the app automatically activates pause mode, during which no alarm is sent
-
Default pause time is 1 hour, but this can be changed
-
After the pause or once movement is detected, Risk Mode is automatically resumed
Automatic switching by location
Using “Automatic Switching” in the app, you can link specific addresses to security modes:
-
Per address, select if "Personal Security" should be Off, On, or Risk
-
When entering or leaving that location, the app switches modes accordingly
-
Combine with X‑Guard Beacons for more precise zone detection
Technical information
-
Risk Mode can be linked to addresses or X‑Guard Beacons
-
Upon entering a beacon zone or registered location, Risk Mode is activated. On exit, it switches back
-
The system relies on smartphone sensors and mobile connectivity. Ensure the device is properly set up, charged, and has signal
