Why do I need to grant so many permissions?
Permissions are essential for your safety
When installing the X-Guard Alarm App, you are asked to grant several permissions. These are essential for the app to function properly and ensure your safety – both when sending and receiving help.
Quick check: Are permissions set correctly?
At the top of the app, an orange or red dot appears if one or more permissions are missing or incorrectly set.
Tapping it shows:
-
Which permissions are missing or changed
-
What steps you need to take to fix them
This keeps the app transparent and under control – without manual checking.
1. Location
Why needed?
To determine your exact position during an alarm so responders can find you quickly.
Important:
-
Location must always be set to “Allow always”
-
Android/iOS will ask regularly to confirm – always allow
2. Microphone
Why needed?
For a hands-free voice connection with the alarm center during an emergency.
-
Activated only during active alarms
-
No listening outside emergencies
3. Motion & Fitness
Used for battery saving – optimizes when location updates are triggered.
4. Notifications
Required to receive alarm alerts – both to provide and to request help.
5. Bluetooth
Needed for connecting the Bluetooth alarm button and to improve location accuracy.
6. Battery optimizations
Prevents Android from shutting down the app in the background.
7. “Display over other apps”
Ensures the app continues running after a phone restart and can appear in the foreground during an alarm.
X-Guard system check
The app is automatically checked weekly. If issues are detected, you’ll receive an email with instructions.
Why is this important?
Refusing or revoking permissions may cause alarms to fail or prevent you from receiving help requests. X-Guard uses your data solely to guarantee your safety – never for commercial purposes.
