Panic Buttons by X‑Guard
LoRaWAN-based emergency buttons for instant alerting
What is a panic button?
The panic button is a compact wireless device that allows users to quickly and easily trigger an alarm in an emergency. With a single press, a signal is sent that immediately initiates an alert action in the X‑Guard system. This can involve notifying first responders, security services, or designated personnel via app notifications or automated phone calls.

Functionality and technology
The panic buttons communicate wirelessly via LoRaWAN, an energy-efficient and reliable wireless communication standard. This technology uses the 868 MHz frequency band in Europe and sends small data packets over long distances, without interference from existing Wi-Fi networks.
The button does not need to be connected to a smartphone. Instead, it sends its signal via LoRaWAN to a gateway installed on the premises.
Gateway and connectivity
The gateway forms the bridge between the wireless panic buttons and the X‑Guard alarm cloud. When a button is pressed:
-
LoRaWAN signal – The button sends the alarm wirelessly via LoRaWAN to the gateway.
-
Internet connection – The gateway connects to the X‑Guard cloud via GSM (4G) and/or a wired internet connection, so the alarm is forwarded immediately.
-
Alarm cloud – The X‑Guard alarm cloud processes the signal and alerts the designated contacts based on predefined procedures and roles.
The gateway can use a fixed internet cable or the included 4G SIM card. An optional UPS battery backup can be added to keep the gateway online during power outages.
Specifications and performance
The panic button is a compact device with the following features:
-
Suitable for indoor use (IP30, not water-resistant)
