Linking a red, orange or green alarm to your Bluetooth Alarm Button
Easily choose which type of alarm you activate with the Bluetooth Alarm Button
With the X-Guard Bluetooth Alarm Button, you can quickly and discreetly activate an alarm without having to unlock your phone first. In the X-Guard Alarm app, you can choose which type of alarm is linked to the Bluetooth Alarm Button: red, orange or green.
This guide explains how to check or change the configured alarm function.
Which alarm can you link to the Bluetooth Alarm Button?
You can configure the Bluetooth Alarm Button with one of the following three alarm functions:
- Red Alarm – Panic Alarm: intended for an emergency in which immediate assistance is required.
- Orange Alarm – Assistance Alarm: intended for situations in which you need help or support.
- Green Alarm – Test Alarm: intended for testing whether the alarm is working correctly. The alarm monitoring centre is not alerted during this test.
Always select the alarm function that matches how the Bluetooth Alarm Button is used within your organisation.
Setting or changing the alarm function of your Bluetooth Alarm Button
Is your Bluetooth Alarm Button already connected to the X-Guard Alarm app? You can easily change the alarm function:
- Open the X-Guard Alarm app on your smartphone.
- Tap the menu icon with the three horizontal lines in the top-left corner.
- Select ‘Change settings’.
- Go to ‘Bluetooth Alarm Buttons’.
- Select the Bluetooth Alarm Button whose function you want to change.
- Go to ‘Button function’.
- Select the desired function:
- Red Alarm for a panic alarm;
- Orange Alarm for an assistance alarm;
- Green Alarm for a test alarm.
- Tap ‘Save’ at the bottom of the screen.
The Bluetooth Alarm Button is now configured with the selected alarm function.
Do you only want to test the Bluetooth Alarm Button?
Would you like to check whether the Bluetooth Alarm Button is still communicating correctly with the X-Guard Alarm app without sending an alarm? First open the X-Guard Alarm app and briefly press the Bluetooth Alarm Button once.
If the connection is working correctly, the X-Guard logo at the top of the screen will briefly become larger and move. This allows you to check the connection without activating an alarm.
Would you also like to test actually sending and receiving an alarm? Temporarily set the Bluetooth Alarm Button to Green Alarm. Then press and hold the Bluetooth Alarm Button for approximately 3 seconds. You will receive the test alarm in your own app without alerting the alarm monitoring centre.
Reset the button after testing
Did you temporarily set the Bluetooth Alarm Button to Green Alarm to perform a test? Remember to change it back to the desired alarm function afterwards.
Go to Menu > Change settings > Bluetooth Alarm Buttons again, select your button and choose, for example, Orange Alarm or Red Alarm. Then save the change.
This way, you know not only that your Bluetooth Alarm Button is working correctly, but also that the correct alarm will be activated in a real situation.
Ready to use
A correctly configured Bluetooth Alarm Button allows you to act quickly when necessary. Therefore, regularly check that the button is still correctly connected and that the correct alarm function is configured.
In this way, the Bluetooth Alarm Button contributes to what X-Guard stands for: Everyone. Everywhere. Protected.
