Tips for optimal use and battery management

Keeping the X-Guard Alarm app reliable and always available

Why must the X-Guard Alarm app always remain active?

The X-Guard Alarm app is specifically designed to remain active in the background at all times. This is essential so that you can:

  • Always be reachable when someone in your area triggers an alarm

  • Send an alarm at any time using the Bluetooth alarm button, even when your screen is locked

To make this possible, the app must continue running in the background and system settings such as battery optimization should not block this functionality. This allows X-Guard to ensure people can quickly request and receive help, in line with the mission “Everyone Protected Everywhere.”

Does the X-Guard Alarm app use a lot of battery?

After installation it may sometimes appear that the app uses a lot of battery. In reality, this is usually caused by other apps running heavily in the background, such as video, social media or location-based apps.

You can easily check this on your device.

Android:

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Select Battery

  3. Open Battery usage

  4. Check which apps use the most energy

  5. Compare the usage of X-Guard with other apps

iPhone:

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Select Battery

  3. View battery usage per app

  4. Check the percentage attributed to X-Guard

In practice, the X-Guard Alarm app generally has low power consumption, especially when your device is properly maintained.

Tips to extend your battery life

You can take several steps to extend the battery life of your device without affecting the functionality of the X-Guard Alarm app:

  • Disable battery optimization for the X-Guard app

    • Android: Settings > Apps > X-Guard Alarm > Battery and select Do not optimize

    • iPhone: Ensure Background App Refresh is enabled for the app

  • Limit the use of heavy apps such as video streaming and gaming apps

  • Reduce your screen brightness and enable automatic brightness adjustment

  • Turn off unused connections such as Bluetooth, GPS or Wi-Fi when they are not needed (unless required by the X-Guard app)

  • Only use power saving mode if it does not restrict the X-Guard Alarm app

Is your device suitable for the X-Guard Alarm app?

To use the app properly, a device with sufficient capacity is important. The recommended minimum specifications are:

  • Android 8.0 or iOS 13 or newer

  • Support for Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)

  • Regular system updates

  • Sufficient memory and storage space

A device older than 3 to 4 years may become noticeably slower and lose battery faster. If your device frequently crashes or the battery drains quickly, it may be time to consider upgrading, especially if you rely on the app in emergency situations.
